The former Empress of Persia
H.I.H. Princess Soraya
|
H.E. Don Antonio de Pleguezuelos y Velasco
Founder & Grand Master |
This Order of Chivalry was born as a result of a friendship between H.E. Don Antonio de Pleguezuelos y Velasco, and the former Empress of Persia, Her Imperial Highness Princess Soraya, at south of Spain, in Marbella, where the former Empress used to spend her summer holidays.
That friendship planted the seeds of an idea in the Grand Master's mind, as he realized that honor as a noble value has not yet died out.
Without hesitation Her Imperial Highness encouraged him to act on this idea, as you can see, it did not stay only an idea.
H.I.H. Princess Soraya enthralled with the idea, and She said to the Grand Master:
"Do it, do not leave it just an a idea. I am certain that People of Honor and Royals will agree. Throughout my life I have had moments of great happiness, and moments that were not so good. But it is at these bad moments that one can recognize who your friends really are, your loyal friends, and this noble mission of yours will join persons of honor from differents countries, with a noble goal.

ou may believe me without any oath that I would my noble Order, as it is the child of my brain, were one of the most beautiful and the most ingenious, that could be imagined. But I could not counteract Nature's law that everything shall beget its like; and what, then, tilled wit of mine beget but the founding of a Order, full of thoughts of all sorts and such as never came into any other imagination -just what might be begotten in a spanish charming city, Marbella, pearl of the Mediterraneum, in a cheerful retreat. Pleasant waves, see breeze, bright skies, peace of mind, these are the things that go far to make even the most barren Muses fertile, and bring into the world births that fill it with wonder and delight.
any times did I take up the pen to write, and lay it down again, not knowing what to write. One time, was pondering with the papers before me, thinking of what I should say, there came unexpectedly a certain lively, a clever friend, who, seeing us so deep in thought, asked the reason; to which I, making no mystery of it, answered that I was thinking which name I could give to my Order, which so troubled us that I had a mind to publish to the world, the most noble Knights and Dames of Honor. further information
|
n profound silence I listened to what my friend said, and her observations made such an impression on me that, without attempting to question her, I admitted her soundness, and out of her I determined to make this letter; wherein, gentle reader, you will perceive our friend´s good sense, my good fortune in finding such an adviser in such a time of need, came to my mind "Order of the Royal Honor", a name, to my thinking, royal, noble, original and significant enough that it will easily be held by the inhabitants of kingdoms the world over as being one of the most prestigious and honorable Order their lands have ever seen.

ears later, I went to visit H.S.H. Prince Alfonso zu Holenlohe to his private villa in Marbella, and when I explained the our mission to him, he showed great enthusiasm, wishing to participate in the Order of the Royal Honor, keeping always his entrepreneur spirit, since he had friends within the Royal European and Arab Houses.
He commented to me that people had called him a crazy visionary five times:
"The first time was because I made a tourist resort in Marbella, people at that time used to go to the north, the second time was for taking Volkswagen into Mexico when it was full of Yankee cars, the third time was for bringing Volvo to Spain, when Spain had no commercial agreements with Sweden, the fourth was for making a ski lift at Sierra Nevada, and the fifth was for making wine at Ronda…, but you are crazy too ."

"I've been a soldier and a slave. I've seen my comrades fall in battle or die more slowly under the lash in Africa. I've held them in my arms at the final moment. These were men who saw life as it is, yet they died despairing. No glory, no brave last words, only their eyes, filled with confusion, questioning "Why?" I don't think they were wondering why they were dying, but why they had ever lived. When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? To surrender dreams - -this may be madness; to seek treasure where there is only trash. Too much sanity may be madness! But maddest of all - to see life as it is and not as it should be." |
|
"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify and vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as crazy, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." |
ur noble Institution was born to pay a tribute of respect, for those men and women who have complied with their duty throughout history and against all difficulties and have retained their Honor and dignity, with the magnanimous purpose to unite the knightly spirit of such figures have been symbolized in the mankind's history.

or your interest, the main inspiration of our noble Order is the Spanish King Alfonso X, the Wise, also known as "King of the Three Religions", King of Castile (1221-1284).
Spain in that time experienced an ecumenical flowering of scientific and artistic development, based on the cross-fertilization of Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities living under its protection.
As a ruler, King Alfonso showed legislative capacity, and a wish to provide his kingdoms with a Code of Laws and a consistent judicial system.

"The law-maker should love God and keep Him before his eyes when he makes the laws, in order that they may be just and perfect. He should moreover love justice and the common benefit of all. He should be learned, in order to know how to distinguish right from wrong, and he should not be ashamed to change and amend his laws, whenever he thinks or a reason given him, that he should do so; for it is especially just that he who has to set others right and correct them should know how to do this in his own case, whenever he is wrong"1 As opposed to such a just ruler, tyrants “prefer to act for their own advantage, although it may result in injury to the country, rather than for the common benefit of all.
As a writer and intellectual he gained considerable scientific fame based on his encouragement of astronomy.
He made his Court a multicultural haven for artists, scientists, and musicians of all backgrounds.
And thus we endeavor to emulate King Alfonso the Wise, to gather together men and women of Honor around the World in our noble Order.
